The White Mountains of NH

We took the kids on a trip to do their favorite things...camping, hiking and swimming.
We saw lots of rocks. This was neat that you could walk underneath it. I did not stay under too long...just in case.

We hiked into the Franconia Falls. It was a 3 mile hike in and that meant 3 miles back.

Everyone carried a pack with a lunch, swimming suit and towel.

We took snack breaks along the way. Most of the trail was flat and shaded. Thank goodness.

I guess we were walking a little slowly. Every now and then we would come upon messages written out for us from Zack...COME ON! they would say.

He really wanted to get to where we were going. He knew that he could swim...he loves getting wet...especially on a hot day.

another quick break...

Finally at the falls...we had lunch and changed into our swimming suits behind the bushes and our towels.
This is where you start. It is a natural waterslide carved into the rocks over the years. The water was very cold but that did not stop anyone...

Even I had to try it once...and only once.

Carley did it twice...she was a trooper.

So it was a drop off about 10 feet into a pool of water that was about 10 feet. Kevin stood in the bottom and caught Carley when she went down. Zack ended up sliding down the slide 52 times. It was quite a climb back up to do it each time. He really got a lot of exercise that day.

Brooke did it 25 times...loving every minute of it.

I think Natalie did it 25 times as well. Once Brooke found out how many Natalie did, she had to make sure she did just as much.

We stayed for all afternoon and had a great time. The weather was perfect.

Everyone got along really well.

These were the falls coming down. So beautiful. Carley saw a bunch of people with dogs and kept going up to them and petting them. She really loves dogs. During our long hike the kids kept asking us if we would get them a dog...we actually really thought about doing it, but decided that this is just not the right time.

Zack was so happy when he did it 52 times. That was Kevin's football number (dad of coarse had to point that out so he would stop there).

We posed for a family picture about 4 different times with someone taking it for us. The first 3 times the person did not ever make sure the picture was taken...this is the only one we got.

Our fun little camp site. It costed us about $20 a night. We were out on a lwan, but it worked out just fine...the kids were right next to a play ground, lots of people with dogs kept walking past, and there was even a little swimming hole.
From the look on Zack's face you can tell how cold it was. :)

Carley did at least put her feet in.
On our way home we stopped at a couple more spots for pictures.

These are bowls...water would cut into the rocks forming bowls.

This is a cool picture of a bowl. We even went past the Old Man of the Mountain site...
Zack even slept under the roots of a tree...interesting. We really had a great time. We made s'mores around the camp fire and sang songs. We even had a special testimony meeting on Sunday where all the kids told each other what they were grateful for and loved about everyone. It was really neat. I love being in the outdoors.

I love the COME ON signs. Ha ha. This is just the best vacation. It sounds like so much fun and camping and that natural slide and the testimony meeting. Such bonding experiences, I can't wait to take my family on a vacation like this.
