While Brooke was in Utah the summer of 2011 she was able to go to a BYU volleyball camp. She had a great time learning a different defense, making her offensive skills better and learning to move more quickly without thinking so much. She had a roommate from Colorado and a coach that was a former player of BYU is 6'5. She had a really great experience.
Once we returned from Utah she was able to attend EFY in MA for a week and went straight to girl's camp for a week. Check out the pictures below.
Her volleyball season started right after camp. This was a major rebuilding year for our team. There were 4 starting juniors and 3 starting freshmen. We did not even have 1 senior on the team this year. She learned a lot about how to lead a team through example. She learned how to create friendships and include all different age levels on the team. She grew a lot. We finished the season 8-8 and then lost the first game in the play-offs. The girls were not prepared enough to handle different scenarios. I was able to coach the JV team this year and we finished with a 13-3 record and was able to have a great time.
She decided to join the swim team at the high school to help with her conditioning and to get her involved. She also did indoor track and jumped high jump. She plays on a club volleyball team as well. She is very busy and is being such a great example to all those around her. She loves to go to all the Mormon dances and invite all of her friends to them. She hangs out with all of her church friends and cannot wait to get together with them at the stake activities.
She invited all of her volleyball team to the October fest/trunk or treat at the church and a bunch of them came. We ended up having a couple of families over for Thanksgiving. It turned out to be a great holiday. Christmas was exciting and it is nice to just be able to have it with family. The Jackson's invited us over to their home on Christmas Eve. We played games, and just hung out and chatted.
In January, Carley turned eight years old and was baptized and confirmed on January 29. Brooke ended up giving the baptism talk to her and used footprints that stepped between birth...baptism...and eternal life. She has such a beautiful testimony and really was a great example to Carley. Carley looks up to her and wants to hang out with her all the time. I am glad that Brooke makes time to go on little dates with her and she even got to go to the mall with the kids last week.
She decided not to wait around for those crazy young men to ask...so she asked Daniel in our stake to the Mormon prom. She ordered a beautiful, cherry red prom dress for the dance. It was shipped from the Phillipines and arrived last week. She is so excited to just go and have a fun time with friends. I am proud of her for having a great time in high school and not waiting around, hoping the buys will ask her on dates. She even asked a young man in the ward out on a date a few weeks ago in a group progressive dinner date. I am excited for her to go to college and get to know some nice young men that actually will ask girls out on dates.
She was on the track team at the high school and did really well making it ti Tri-County in both high jump and triple jump. She jumped 4'10" and in triple jump 32.1'. She worked really hard and was rewarded by her hard work.
Brooke is amazing and I love her.

I want to see a picture of Brooke's prom dress! I'm excited for her. Even in college, those boys need a little nudge to ask girls out. My number one realization that I never thought when I was a teenager is boys are way more insecure than we think. I always thought they were so arrogant and playing games. But really they just need some reassurance that the girl is going to say yes when they ask. That is where flirting comes in, right? I'm excited for her.
